LAMU pompoms Sol : colorful and original bath linen with multicolored pompoms
The LAMU colorful and original bath linen is hand-embroidered on two sides with multicolored Sol pompoms. Made from 100% combed cotton, white terry.
“How not fall in love with moroccan textile traditions ? Thread and needle work has a huge traditional repertoire. Be it in stitches or in interpretations. Fes embeoidery, Salé, Tetouan, Azzemour, Rbati,… All these stitches are different and the interpretations on textiles has also a large repertoire of interpretations. Unfortunately vanishing with time, most are heritage now. Lamu pompons bath linen is close to Tanger, north of the country. In that region women wear a handwoven cloth called “mendil” on their hips. It is usually a stripe weave with a white base. Tassels line 2 sides of the cloth. Initial inspiration for my bath towel range is inspired by the mendil tradition.

Making pompons requires great dexterity. We work since many years with skilled artisans, our workshop is located in Marrakesh. Why? Because this particular skill is a local skill, it is an ancestral tradition to make tassels in Morocco. When I started with this work it was a a tradition from the north of the country, it slowly moved to Marrakech.
